The Breathtaking Coast of Northumberland

Day One

We leave Lancashire and head for the Northeast where we stop on route for refreshments. We arrive at The White Swan hotel in time to settle in before our evening meal.

This holiday is a relaxing break where you have a day free to explore this magical area at leisure, our hotel is close to Alnwick Castle, one of Britain’s most iconic castles, dating back to the Norman period. The second largest inhabited castle in the UK, a refuge, a film set and a family home with extraordinary history, famous for Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. We also have two days out which is to the border town of Berwick Upon Tweed. The town boasts lots to see and do with its old prison cells, town hall and romantic river Tweed dominated by three iconic bridges. Another day is a short drive from the hotel, the charming village and picturesque seaside town of Alnmouth. Alnmouth is awash with colourful houses, wildlife, and tranquil beaches. In the afternoon we head to the Harbour Village of Amble. Amble hosts an award-winning marina, a crammed high street with cosy cafes and traditional shops.

Final Day

On our final day after breakfast, we depart with a short stop at Hadrian’s Wall where we have time to take some photographs before we head home, stopping for refreshments on the way.
