Itinerary

We travel north and have lunch in Lockerbie on our way to our first overnight hotel in Stirling. After breakfast our adventure begins with a journey through the Cairngorms and Speyside to the Highland Capital, Inverness. We travel through Ullapool for our evening crossing to our hotel in Stornoway. We continue along the spine of the island to Lewis with its history dating back 5000 years. We enjoy a guided tour of The Isle Lewis. Be immersed in the folklore and history of the Isles as your local island guide takes you to see the impressive 5,000-year-old standing stones of Callanish (Scotland’s Stonehenge, but older). Ancient thatched "Blackhouses", typical of crofting settlements, with entry included, and the imposing Carloway Broch, a fortified tower dating back over 2,000 years. We leave our Stornoway hotel and head to the Isle of Harris and the tiny port of Leverburgh. We cross to Berneray then travel through North Uist to the hotel on the island of Benbecula, these islands are linked by causeways. Another spectacular day, another guided excursion visiting Benbecula and The Uists, including a fascinating local museum. After breakfast on our penultimate day, we travel to the port of Lochmaddy and aboard the ferry for a beautiful sea crossing over The Little Minch to the Isle of Skye. The afternoon will then be spent travelling through spectacular scenery through Skye and over the bridge to the mainland, then via Glen Shiel, Loch Lochy, Glen Coe and alongside Loch Lomond to a final overnight stop in Stirling. On our last day after our Scottish breakfast, our adventure ends and it’s the homeward leg back over the border to meet our taxis who will be waiting to take us home, we stop in Lockerbie on the way for lunch.
