Itinerary

We travel to Bristol with a breakfast stop en route, arrive in time to settle in before our evening meal. Our holiday includes 2 full days out to include Bristol and Brunel’s SS Great Britain. We take a route through the Avon Gorge to see Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge and then on to another of his masterpieces, the SS Great Britain. Launched in Bristol in 1843, this was the world’s first ocean-going, propeller-driven, iron ship. The historic vessel is now conserved with the hull protected by a ‘glass sea’. Visitors can experience what life was like for the ship’s Victorian passengers and crew. We then travel into the city centre where there’s free time to explore the city centre and Bristol’s famous Harbourside. Another full day takes us to Bath and the Roman Baths. We travel to the Roman city of Bath, where there’s free time to discover the city’s Georgian architecture. Our tour includes admission into the world-famous Roman Baths, one of the city’s finest historic sites where you can walk on the ancient, cobbled pathways much as the Romans did 2,000 years ago.

Then walk to the Grade I listed Pulteney Bridge. Completed by 1774, the bridge was designed by Robert Adam in a Palladian style. It is exceptional in having shops built across its full span on both sides. After breakfast on our final day we take our journey home, stopping on the way for a light lunch.
