About the Trip
The Isle of Arran is one of the most southerly Scottish islands and sits in the Firth of Clyde, between Ayrshire and Kintyre with a remarkable diversity of landscapes and seascapes. The pretty villages on Arran’s beautiful coastline are complemented by a rugged and mountainous interior in the north, and green rolling hills and woodland in the south.
En route, we enjoy a full English breakfast in Carlisle (included) and further light refreshments at Cumnock (included). Onwards to Ardrossan and our sailing to Arran. Our itinerary includes Brodick, Arran Foods and the Creamery, pausing at Lagg for refreshments (included). On other days we explore Arran Heritage Museum (included), Brodick Castle (included) a guided tour of the distillery (included) and a tour of the north of the island. Lunch will be included before our tour of the north of the island. Our return journey includes a tea or coff ee stop (included) and high tea at Gretna (included).
Our Choice of Hotel
Our choice of hotel: THE KINLOCH
The hotel is run by the Crawford family who have owned it for the last 40 years. The hotel sits on the banks of the Kilbrannan Sound and looks over to Kintyre. Sit in the lounge and watch the seals bask lazily in the sun. The levels of friendliness, service and facilities are excellent. The restaurant off ers a splendid choice of menus and quality meals. All bedrooms are en-suite with TVs, tea or coffee making facilities and direct dial telephones. There is a lift serving the oldest part of the hotel. There are some ground floor bedrooms and these are in the new wing where all bedrooms are on the ground or first floor (no lift). There is also a heated indoor swimming pool and squash court. There will be entertainment on most nights.
