Isle of Arran & DumfriesFrom: Friday, April 24, 2020
To: Thursday, April 30, 2020
About the Trip
New for 2020, we are combining one of our most popular destinations with a new, exciting destination. The Isle of Arran is one of the most southerly Scottish islands and sits in the Firth of Clyde between Ayrshire and Kintyre. The pretty villages on Arran’s beautiful coastline are complemented by a rugged and mountainous interior in the north and green rolling hills and woodland in the south. Our second stop, Dumfries, has a rolling coastline of rocky shore and sandy beaches, whilst inland, there are acres of forest and green spaces. You’ll notice how beautiful this part of lowland Scotland is.
We have a meal stop en route to Ardrossan where we board our ferry to the Isle of Arran. Included is a full day to Arran Heritage museum, Brodick Gardens and Country Park. We have a half day excursion where we travel to the north of the Island for a tour of the Distillery. We have a free afternoon to do as you please, maybe have a swim in the indoor heated swimming pool. On Day 4, we travel to Brodick where we set sail to Ardrossan, grab a bite to eat on the ferry (not included). We journey to our second hotel in Dumfries, lunch is included on arrival. We enjoy a full day excursion to the majestic Drumlanrig Castle and spend the afternoon at leisure in Dumfries. We also visit some of Galloways picturesque towns, Newton Stewart, and Wigtown. We have a refreshment stop on the return journey.
Our Choice of Hotel
The hotel sits on the banks of the Kilbrannan Sound and looks over to Kintyre. Sit in the lounge and watch the seals bask lazily in the sun. The bedrooms are en-suite with TV and tea/coffee making facilities. There is also a heated indoor swimming pool and squash court. There will be entertainment on most nights. There is no lift but there are some ground floor bedrooms.
The Station Hotel is a beautiful Victorian building, 5-minutes’ walk from the town centre. It retains many original features. Relax in the lounge, and enjoy the peaceful garden, which features a fountain. There is a contemporary bistro restaurant and a selection of whiskies can be enjoyed in the bar.
